I wished roses for you, the kind that you loved.

Then I wished green waves in the earth

that would entice you to dream

in their folds, as a gentle sun woke you up.

I ordered a whole new world, a radiant

world where you would be happy,

a luminous garden where your thoughts could

fly free, or, on a quiet evening , just be.

It’s new life every day, this newborn spring light…

And isn’t that a new bud that springs, a green

tendril that braves sight?

A new rose that wants to charm you, afresh,

and new hope that brings the shy lily alight?
