, , , , , ,

silence is kind when it

descends from evening-laden

trees –  humbled, perhaps

heart-broken, it hurries to fill the

fissures between dusk and night – soon

moonlight drapes will

encircle the earth as day

gives up its dying light.

silence is kind when a walker

on a moon-washed beach watches

the tide come in –

he seeks a pearl,

and so, steals the tide and hides it

in his heart –

he seeks a pearl

and so, hides the moon behind the cliff

so it won’t wear out –

for the pearl,

he banishes the sea into the low-hung sky

and sits down

to wait for eternity.
